Long Breaks are Sometimes the Nicest.
So yes, I’ve been taking a little break from WoW while my guilds figure out what they want to do with/for end game, yet for the first time I don’t really feel a strong desire to raid, so I’ve put myself on the bench, it’s a nice feeling, watching some of our newer guildies go all glassy eyed at the prospect of getting the shiniest gear, but I’m happy, heroics are challenging enough to keep me entertained the few times I’ve logged in and it’s given me some time to explore other games (and other MMO’s) I still enjoy WoW the most, but, it’s nice to take a break from going at it pretty faithfully for the past couple of years.
The reason I don’t think I could do this before was prior to this there was very little content I found entertaining enough to keep me satisfied other than raiding, and I do fear at least with heroics that’s going to be true again soon enough, with nerfs coming in droves every couple of patches, and the looming gear reset, I can’t help but worry that dungeons are going to become Wrath of the Lich King dash-fests again, please don’t do that to me Blizzard.
Yet where I spend most of my time while playing WoW these days….is questing, breaks my brain too, but…..questing is so fun these days, I’m kind of working from the top backwards, going through and finishing quest chains I wasn’t able to while levelling due to them turning grey and overall just really enjoying myself. I’m not sure if it’s fair to my readers if I’m not a raider, talking about how mean heroic chogal is, but….perhaps there’s a place for somebody who’s really excited they just fought alongside a knight in un’goro despite being able to one shot every mob there?
Cataclysm has given me new options, as has the amount of games I’m honestly excited to try, while the year started with having to put my cat down, and my aunt dying, gaming wise it’s been great so far. I’m a mixed bag of emotions, assorted nuts you might say.
Oh well, onward lads, time to stab one in the face!
